Environment Project Co-ordinator

We are seeking a highly professional and organised person with excellent multi-project management skills and experience to develop, co-ordinate and align our environmental-related programmes of work, with primary focus on our Ethnic Minority Environmental network (EMEN), Environmental Race Equality Programme (REEP), and Energy Saving for All (ESA) partnership with Changeworks. You will ensure that all our environmental programme outputs and outcomes are achieved and reported upon, with hands-on support provided to staff to help deliver planned activities.

About this job:

We are seeking a highly professional and organised person with excellent multi-project management skills and experience to develop, co-ordinate and align our environmental-related programmes of work, with primary focus on our Ethnic Minority Environmental network (EMEN), Environmental Race Equality Programme (REEP), and Energy Saving for All (ESA) partnership with Changeworks. You will ensure that all our environmental programme outputs and outcomes are achieved and reported upon, with hands-on support provided to staff to help deliver planned activities.

Responsibilities:

You will also ensure that all other current and future environmental-related projects are developed, co-ordinated and aligned with REEP, EMEN and ESA programmes, and will provide hands-on lead where possible on other environment-related projects.

    • You will also be leading on improving the marketing of the EMEN so that it continuously attracts new members and increases its profile within the environmental sector. Thus, you will need to have excellent all-round digital skills, including the ability to produce podcasts and blogs, update website content, undertake social media postings, update and circulate newsletters, and utilise other digital marketing channels.

It will also be important that you have a strong understanding and commitment towards race equality, as all our environmental-related projects have the aim of ensuring that the environment sector addresses systemic racism and that the policy landscape is inclusive of ethnic minority voices.

Finally, you should ideally possess strong knowledge and a passion for climate change issues and policies as this will enable you to undertake the role of engaging effectively with the environmental sector and within the policy context, including responding to environmental consultations when needed.

Competencies:

Essential

    • • Extensive experience in co-ordinating and managing multiple projects to deliver successful outputs and outcomes.

• Good leadership skills, including taking the lead in developing projects

• Extensive knowledge and experience of climate change issues, including barriers for EM groups/communities in engaging in environmental policy and decision making.

• Extensive skills and experience in digital promotion/marketing – i.e. social media, website content development/maintenance, creation of podcasts, blogs, newsletters, etc.

• Extensive experience in engaging with and contributing effectively to environmental decision-making processes and policy development, and drafting consultation submissions, particularly relating to race equality, would be useful.

• Ability to organise and facilitate events, such a policy consultation events, conferences, etc.

• Ability to engage with, and develop networks and partnership working with key environmental stakeholders/decision makers such as Scottish Government, Public bodies, local authorities, etc.

• Good knowledge, understanding and strong commitment to race/equality, particularly around organisational development to address racial inequalities

• Extensive experience in developing and implementing monitoring and evaluation tools/ processes to track success towards targeted outcomes.

• Good organisational and planning skills, including the ability to prioritise and plan multiple workloads and work on own initiative.

• Ability to develop workplans, draft agreements & policies (e.g. partnership agreements, data sharing, communications strategy/plans, etc)

• Excellent communication, inter-personal and presentation / public speaking skills.

• Good report writing skills.

• Ability to travel across Scotland to attend events, meetings, etc.

• Able to be flexible in working occasional weekends and evenings.
